MEET THE TEAM
Katelyn and Kyle Underhill
A little bit about us! We have been together since December 2008 and married since 2014. We were highschool best friends turned highschool sweethearts. We do everything together in life and love our adventures and we try our hardest to include our 10 dogs in anything we can. While we love our Poodles, we also love long coat Chihuahuas, German Shepherds and our Doberman. Katelyn is a professional dog trainer and owns Apex Dog Training in Perry, GA. Kyle is an aviation mechanic. We both also own 4 horses, 1 Percheron, 1 Quarter horse cross and 2 wild mustangs, and 3 cats. What can we say, we love our animals! Kyle is your typical southern man, he loves hunting, fishing and camping. Kyle attends dog shows and sports with us and is the best support system we could ask for. He’s the man behind the scenes most of the time helping make sure everything runs smoothly, our very own handyman and he shows all of our animals his amazing love!
MEET THE TEAM
Gina Russell
A little bit about myself. I taught high school science for 15 years, and then decided (with a push from my children) to go back to school and earn my Bachelor Degree in Nursing. I’ve been a registered nurse for almost 4 years. My family, but especially my daughter, Katelyn, has always been involved with animals. Our love for dogs especially, has been a common thread throughout our family life. The comfort, companionship, and lessons about responsibility are unbeatable. Our endeavor into Highpoint Poodles has been a culmination of years of research, experiences, and the blessings of mee/ng several outstanding, well-established breeders. We are so excited to grow our company and look forward to establishing a quality-driven breeding program
Why We Chose to Breed
I acquired my first Standard Poodle from Winterswind Standard Poodles and the rest was history! I began looking for a new medical alert service dog prospect. A Standard Poodle was suggested over and over. In our minds we think a Standard Poodle is some fru fru, dainty and non-versatile dog, right? Wrong! Once I began researching and learning more about Poodles, their temperament, their versatility and how tough they are I had to know more. I began interacting with more Poodle owners, asking around about them and picking Poodle owner’s brains. I quickly figured out that Poodles were not what I assumed.
I found Winterswind and was placed on the list for a Poodle and before we knew it, my first Standard Poodle was born March 21, 2021 in IL. Quill, one of our males, does it all! He’s been an amazing active pet for us, an excellent medical alert service dog and mobility dog for me and one awesome addition to our family.
We quickly realized we wanted more. I began thinking about getting another Poodle when I saw Karen was retiring and breeding her last litter. I had to get one! I acquired our female, Pretzel and came home with her mom Vega as well. What a wild ride, huh? And our adventure began!
